Shield Electric understands the importance of electricity in your home or business. Whether you are in need of having a light fixture installed or having a whole home generator installed, we are prepared for all of your electrical planning needs.

Our electricians are skilled in updating older homes to present day code, especially in relation to the amount of power demanded by today’s electrical needs. With computers, cell phones, multiple televisions and other electrical devices all plugged in at once, it is important to adhere to modern standards of safety.

Kaleb Dutil

Owner

Kaleb Dutil is the founder of Shield Electric and a licensed Unlimited Electrical Contractor in North Carolina. With more than 20 years in the electrical industry, Kaleb has built his career around doing quality work, solving problems, and taking care of people.

Before entering the electrical trade, Kaleb served in the United States Marine Corps infantry, including combat deployments to both Afghanistan and Iraq. His time as a Marine helped shape the discipline, work ethic, and sense of responsibility that he still brings to his work and leadership today.

Kaleb founded Shield Electric with a simple goal: to build an electrical company people can count on. That means answering the phone, showing up when promised, communicating clearly, and delivering professional electrical work without making things more complicated than they need to be.

Outside of work, Kaleb is a husband and father who enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. His Christian faith plays an important role in how he approaches life, leadership, and business, with an emphasis on integrity, humility, hard work, and treating people well.

Franklin Boney

Partner

Franklin is a Wilmington native with a B.A. from NC State University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. With over 10 years of experience in commercial property management and maintenance, he has a sharp eye for what property owners and businesses actually need. At Shield Electric, he combines that experience with a commitment to doing right by every client. He’s a father of two and brings the same dedication to his family and community that he brings to every job he takes on.

Chris Bailey

Technician

Chris brings a unique background to his electrical work. With 15 years as a firefighter and paramedic, including time with the FDNY, he developed a strong foundation in safety, precision, and composure under pressure. A 2024 graduate of Cape Fear Community College’s Journeyman Electrical program, he is currently working toward his master electrician license and growing his expertise in the field every day. He is a Florida native and a father of five who takes pride in doing the job right every single time.

Tyler Mason

Technician

Tyler is a Master Electrician with over 20 years of experience in renewable and sustainable energy, with deep expertise in solar and EV charging systems. Originally from Rhode Island, he is a father of five and a follower of Jesus who is committed to serving others both on and off the job. He brings a strong technical foundation and a steady, thoughtful approach to every job. His background in clean energy makes him a valuable resource for homeowners and businesses looking to modernize their electrical systems.

Jake Waters

Purchasing & Operations

Jake is from Hickory, North Carolina and is a graduate of Appalachian State University, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in business and mathematics. With more than 13 years of industry experience, he brings extensive knowledge of electrical and lighting products, as well as distribution. Jake primarily handles purchasing while also assisting with project management, customer service, and day-to-day operations. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, spending time with friends and family, and finding ways to make those around him smile.

Larry Orsini

Technician

Larry is originally from Georgia and is currently a Level 4 electrical apprentice at Cape Fear Community College. Through his coursework and hands-on experience, he continues to build his knowledge of the electrical trade while strengthening the skills he uses in the field each day. Larry enjoys being part of a team and continuing to learn as he grows in the industry. Outside of work, he enjoys lifting weights and staying involved in several ministries through his church.

Gabe Bemus

Technician

Gabe is a North Carolina native and graduate of Cape Fear Community College’s Electrical Apprenticeship Program. His education and training have given him a strong foundation in the electrical trade, and he continues to build on that experience through his work in the field. Gabe enjoys developing his skills and taking on new opportunities to learn as part of the Shield Electric team. Outside of work, he is an avid golfer who enjoys spending time on the course.
